Central Scotland runs short of funds for Help to Buy
It will become increasingly difficult to access the Help to Buy scheme in Scotland as funds run low.

All the funds for central Scotland have been allocated, meaning that any first time buyers wanting to buy a house here will not be able to get aid through the scheme.

At the start of the financial year, there was enough money set aside to help fund 2,000 deals. This dropped to just 600 at the start of July.

Additional money has already been poured into the scheme, boosting it by £50 million.

All applications that have been signed so far are included in the budget, so they will still go ahead.

Anyone who had been planning to apply for a deal to help them get a mortgage with a cheaper deposit, or were in the very early stages of applying, may find themselves disappointed.

20% of the budget was set for non-central areas of the country, and in some places there are still the last dregs of the budget available. These aren't likely to last long however, and the first port of call should be to contact your Homebuy Agent if you are interested.

This will have a knock-on effect for the house building industry as they will now likely find it harder to sell off homes that they have built and any gains the building sector have seen because of the scheme may now fade.
