Help to Buy ISAs (HtB ISAs) are finally on the market, and the creation of them has given the banks and lenders another battlefield on which to fight for customers. But which HtB ISAs are the best on the market in the launching week?

First of all, not all providers are offering a Htb ISA (not yet at least). So you will have to check and see if your preferred lender is part of the scheme. Even if they are, different banks are offering different interest rates on the ISA.

It has been reported that the rates are ranged from 2 per cent to 4 per cent, with Halifax offering the high 4 per cent interest on the ISA.

Nationwide, Lloyds, HSBC, NatWest and Aldermore are offering the ISA at 2 per cent, while Virgin Money is apparently offering 3 per cent.

Halifax’s deal looks highly enticing when compared with the average easy-access ISA, which pays just 1.09 per cent,” said Charlotte Nelson of Moneyfacts.

This highlights just how much Halifax is offering, and is sure to attract a huge amount of customers.

Apparently, the last time there was an ISA on offer for this high an interest rate was back in 2009.

However, it would seem that interest rate is not the only factor to look at when trying to decide on which ISA to get. Nationwide have taken steps to allow Help to Buy ISA savers to spread their full annual ISA tax-free allowance (currently £15,240) across several ISAs, so people can make the best use of all their deals.

The Help to Buy schemes, both the Equity Loan and the Mortgage Guarantee, have gone a long way to help thousands and thousands of first time buyers get onto the property ladder, and escape the trap of renting, or being stuck living with their parents. The Help to Buy ISA will only boost these numbers and help more people achieve their dreams of home ownership.

However, the root issue has still not seen much headway in terms of being rectified. House prices are high, and the supply of new homes being built cannot meet the demand of the market. This is keeping property ownership out of the reach of many first time buyers.
