A government backed scheme called HomeBuy Direct set up to help first time buyers on to the property ladder is proving successful in Northgate and Blackley, Manchester.
The scheme provides buyers with an interest free equity loan, up to 30 per cent of a property’s value, is co-funded by the Homes and Communities Agency and George Wimpey. Applicants must have an income of less than £60,000 and will be subject to eligibility and affordability checks.
George Wimpey said that since the scheme was introduced at Northgate interest from potential first-time buyers has been huge.
Anthony Mansfield, regional sales and marketing manager said, “The scheme is designed to help overcome the hurdles of high mortgage costs and larger deposits, which we know are preventing some people from buying. HomeBuy Direct offers a great way for purchasers to afford their dream home and is ideal for many first time buyers.”
George Wimpey has three HomeBuy Direct developments in the region. The Northgate development has a number of two bedroom apartments priced from £59,497. Each apartment has a fitted kitchen, a living room, bathroom and an allocated parking space.
Further information about HomeBuy Direct and the properties available at Northgate can be obtained from the Sales and Information Centre off Waterloo Road, Thursday to Monday between 11.00am and 5.00pm, or visit Georgewimpey.co.uk.
