The government’s Help to Buy scheme has helped thousands of families in Derbyshire to get on the property ladder.

Information revealed by the Homes and Communities Agency show that since the launch of the Help to Buy scheme, 2,423 home buyers have purchased properties using it.

Districts with Derbyshire that have most used the scheme are: South Derbyshire – 802; Derby – 559; Bolsover – 316. Out of which 1,890 were first time buyers.

Barratt Homes North Midlands and David Wilson Homes East Midlands are doing their utmost to urge home buyers in the county to use the scheme to help them buy a house. With just a 5% deposit those seeking to get on the property ladder can take advantage of the government equity loan scheme with affordable mortgage rates.

Jason Hearn, sales director at David Wilson Homes East Midlands, said: “We are pleased to see that Derbyshire home buyers are taking advantage of the highly popular Help to Buy scheme.”

Jan Ruston, sales director for Barratt Homes North Midlands, added: “This has proved so helpful to many home buyers in the area and we would encourage anyone looking to buy a home with lower upfront costs to get in touch.”
